The attack comes hours after Hezbollah launched more than 300 missiles on Israel during Yom Kippur on Saturday
At least 67 people were injured, with four said to be in critical condition, Sunday after Hezbollah terrorists launched a devastating drone strike against Israel.
A senior Hezbollah official told Al Jazeera that the group attacked near Binyamina using “a squadron of suicide drones.” The capabilities of the resistance are still strong and capable of reaching Israels rear, says the official. Channel 12 reports that Hezbollah fired three drones against Israel. Two were launched in tandem: one hit a group of Israelis near Binyamina, while the other was shot down close to Haifa. According to the IDF, a third drone was shot down over the Mediterranean off Haifa.
In western Galilee, one of the drones carrying explosives was successfully stopped. However, according to Channel 12 and Ynet News, other aircraft managed to get past Israeli air defenses and landed in Israel’s Haifa region, exploding in the Binyamina area. Director General Eli Bin of Magen David Adom reported that five people were gravely wounded and four were in critical condition.

While it looks into the drone strike, which civilians claim did not set off sirens prior to the explosion, the Israel Defense Forces reported that all injured people have been transported to local hospitals. According to medics, the initial report of 40 injured in the Binyamina region drone strike has since increased to 67. There are still four severely wounded, five seriously injured, and 14 moderately injured. The majority were sent to Hadera’s Hillel Yaffe Medical Center. Others were sent to Rabin Medical Center in Petah Tikva, Rambam Hospital in Haifa, and Sheba Hospital in Ramat Gan.
The Israeli Air Force stated it intercepted another drone fired from Lebanon after the strike in the Binyamins area. The assault on Sunday is the most recent in Hezbollah’s ongoing drone and missile assaults on the Jewish state; on Saturday, during Yom Kippur, the terror group fired over 300 rockets.

According to Channel 12’s unsourced report, any end to hostilities is contingent upon the implementation of UN Resolution 1701, which would force Hezbollah to retreat from the border. This includes disarming Lebanese militias, preventing Hezbollah from rearmament, and ensuring that Israel retains the capacity to act throughout Lebanon when it detects threats, including limited, targeted ground operations.

According to Ynet and Kan news, the IDF has not conducted airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in Beirut for the last three days due to political directives. According to Ynet, during their conversation last week, US President Joe Biden requested that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stop the strikes in the Lebanese capital.
