Liam Payne was open about his struggle with addiction before his death.

The former One Direction member fatally fell from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina earlier this month. Liam was allegedly sober in the days before his death, but his autopsy showed drugs in his system including “pink cocaine.”

Investigators are looking into leads concerning hotel staff who might have given drugs to Liam in the days leading up to his death. According to sources, Liam overdosed on drugs at least twice in previous years.

Sources allegedly close to the late singer claim that he had to be resuscitated at least once after a drug overdose, according to Page Six. Liam previously checked into rehab earlier this year but left within days.

The star checked into The Priory, a private rehab center in London, in July to begin a 28-day program. However, he allegedly walked out after only 48 hours at the facility.

Liam was in Argentina to get his US visa renewed but ran into trouble because of his history of addiction. However, sources say he had to undergo a medical examination for the visa process and the weekend before his death he was “100 per cent sober.”

Before his tragic fall, a member of hotel staff called emergency services to report an unruly guest. Liam was reported to be on drugs and caused a commotion in the hotel lobby.

He also trashed his hotel room as photos showed a smashed television and burnt furniture around white powder and aluminum foil. A Dove soap box was also found on the scene that investigators believe was used to smuggle drugs into Liam’s room.

New details have emerged about Liam’s death, with a source claiming he was in the “wrong place at the wrong time” as he allegedly fainted while he was close to the balcony which caused the fall.
