Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has attracted a bevy of attention this season for his distinct mustache.
And he now revealed to his brother Jason Kelce how his Kansas City teammates had received the outfit: Ive been getting cooked all year for having a mustache,” Travis admitted.
Travis revealed that his inspiration for the mustache was the distinct look championed by his coach, Andy Reid. Affably nicknamed “The Walrus” by Chiefs players, Reid has donned the same facial hair for almost all of his NFL coaching career.
You lost some of your facial hair,” Jason joked to younger brother during an August episode of ‘New Heights.’ “Uh yes, well I always do the Andy Reid special, baby, Travis responded.
Fans may be more critical of Travis’s look than usual due to his relationship with 14-time Grammy Award-winning artist Taylor Swift.
The younger Kelce brother further elaborated on his facial hair during an October interview with ‘People.’ “I grow out the stache every training camp,” he said.
“At least I have the past three or four years since we’ve been making these title runs in honor of coach Andy Reid. He is the walrus… He’s got that thing looking beautiful every single day.”
ESPN facilitated an Andy Reid lookalike contest during a recent ‘Monday Night Football.’ Jason Kelce gifted the winning fan a bag full of whiskers from Reid’s actual mustache.
Travis Kelce isn’t quite having a vintage season for the undefeated Chiefs. Through nine games, the 34-year-old has caught 60 passes for 499 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Just two seasons ago, Travis was named First-team All-Pro as he hauled in 110 passes for 1,338 yards and 12 scores. He could very well be entering the twilight of his career.
