Lil Wayne has responded to Kendrick Lamar’s remarks on his new album GNX, sparking a social media exchange between the two rap legends.

Lamar’s track “wacced out murals” includes lines suggesting he felt let down by Lil Wayne, saying:

“I used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud. Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down.”

The lyrics also mention Lamar’s headlining of the upcoming Super Bowl 59 halftime show, an honor that some fans speculated might have gone to Wayne, given the event will be held in his hometown of New Orleans.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Lil Wayne responded: “Man wtf I do?! I just be chillin & dey still kome 4 my head… No one really wants destruction, not even me but I shall destroy if disturbed. On me. Love.”

Wayne has previously expressed his disappointment at not being selected for the halftime show. In September, he shared his frustration in an Instagram video, calling the decision “heartbreaking.” During his Lil Weezyana Fest on November 2, he told fans the opportunity was “ripped away” from him.

While Wayne’s hometown connection might have made him a fitting choice, recent Super Bowl selections prioritize broader appeal. For Super Bowl 59, Apple Music and Roc Nation chose Lamar, who headlined Super Bowl 56 with Dr. Dre.

Super Bowl 59, featuring Kendrick Lamar’s halftime performance, is set for February 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
