Jedd Fisch shifts the blame as Washington’s nightmare start worsens at Rutgers.Cau

The Huskies have big games on the horizon against Michigan, Iowa and Indiana

Washington head coach Jedd Fisch expressed frustration with his team after a disappointing 21-18 loss to Rutgers on Friday. Despite Washington outgaining Rutgers with 521 total yards to Rutgers’ 299, the Huskies were undone by several costly mistakes, including penalties and missed field goals. One critical error involved a blocked field goal that was nullified due to having 12 men on the field, contributing to the narrow defeat.

Fisch, who took over the Huskies after leaving a successful stint at Arizona where he led the team to a 10-3 record and an Alamo Bowl victory last season, has faced early criticism from Washington fans. With a 3-2 record after losses to Washington State and Rutgers, the team’s season is already looking challenging compared to last year’s playoff run under former coach Kalen DeBoer, now at Alabama.

In his post-game comments, Fisch did not shy away from criticizing his players, stating, “That was about as disappointing a game as I’ve ever been a part of… You can’t play yourself and your opponent.” He pointed to penalties and missed opportunities, particularly on special teams, as key reasons for the loss.

With big games against Michigan, Iowa, and Indiana ahead, the pressure is mounting on Fisch and the Huskies to turn their season around before it spirals further.
