BREAKING NEWS: Bill Maher Criticizes Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s Relationship in Harsh TV Rant.giang

March 11, 2025 by Giang Giang

Bill Maher didn’t hold back when taking a swipe at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romance during the March 7 episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, making a pointed joke about the pop star’s dating history in the process.

While discussing Donald Trump’s first term in office, Maher took an unexpected turn toward Swift’s love life, making a sarcastic remark about her relationship longevity.

“The world is upside down,” Maher quipped. “It only took Trump weeks to break up with Ukraine, Mexico, and Canada, but Taylor Swift has had the same boyfriend for over a year.”

Though he never directly mentioned Travis Kelce’s name, it was clear Maher was referring to the Kansas City Chiefs’ star tight end, who has been in a highly publicized relationship with Swift since the summer of 2023.

Maher’s Swipe at Swift’s Relationship History

Maher’s tongue-in-cheek jab was a reference to Swift’s well-documented dating past, which has been a frequent subject of media scrutiny and pop culture discussion.

Swift’s longest-known relationship before Kelce was her six-year romance with British actor Joe Alwyn, which ended in April 2023. Prior to that, she was romantically linked to a number of high-profile celebrities, including:

  • Jake Gyllenhaal
  • John Mayer
  • Taylor Lautner
  • Calvin Harris (dated for over a year)
  • Matty Healy (brief romance in May-June 2023)

While Swift’s past relationships have often been brief, her relationship with Kelce is nearing the two-year mark, challenging the long-running narrative about her short-lived romances—a point Maher was clearly mocking.

Swift and Kelce’s Relationship Stronger Than Ever

Despite Maher’s cynicism, Swift and Kelce’s relationship appears to be going strong, with many insiders suggesting the couple could be headed toward marriage.

A Page Six report previously stated that Kelce’s family, including:

  • His mom, Donna Kelce
  • His dad, Ed Kelce
  • His brother, Jason Kelce
  • His sister-in-law, Kylie Kelce

are all reportedly big fans of Swift and see her as a “perfect fit” for Travis.

“They’ve never seen Travis so happy with a girlfriend before,” an insider claimed. “[His] family gets along great with Taylor’s family too. Their families blend seamlessly.”

Engagement Speculation Continues to Build

Fans have been buzzing about a potential engagement between Swift and Kelce, with speculation reaching a fever pitch earlier this year when Swift was seen wearing gloves on the field after Kansas City’s AFC Championship Game victory.

Some Swifties even theorized that she was hiding a ring under the gloves, though no engagement has been confirmed.

Maher’s Take: A Cheap Shot or a Playful Joke?

While Maher’s snarky joke may have been meant as harmless humor, it continues the long-standing trend of public figures critiquing Swift’s personal life, something that has followed her throughout her career.

Whether Kelce and Swift take the next step toward marriage or not, their relationship continues to thrive despite the criticism—and for now, it seems the only people concerned about its longevity are comedians like Maher looking for an easy punchline.
