One day, a South African 13-year-old from Delft, one of Cape Town’s poorest communities, walked 2 miles on his own to save his puppy.
When he noticed that his dog had stopped eating and was having bloody diarrhea, he took action and went outside to seek assistance.
He walked two miles into town to an animal shelter that cares for local dogs and cats. Stöckigt, a member of the rescue organization, stated:
“She was very thin, and the boy said he didn’t have enough money to feed her. We told him we would do everything we could to save her life and find her a new loving home that could care for her. We expressed our gratitude to him for bringing her to us for assistance.”
Nanuk, the puppy, was diagnosed with parvovirus, a fatal illness that would have killed her if she hadn’t been treated.
Nanuk was visited on a regular basis by other foster kittens from the shelter, who cheered her up.
“I think it’s a combination of the kittens and having one of us by her side the whole time, encouraging and loving her…” according to Stöckigt. Nanuk’s rescuers are looking for a loving forever home for him.
Nanuk would starve to death if she didn’t eat.
Thank God for this young boy’s good heart, which saved her life!
Nanuk is now on the lookout for a forever home!
