Homeless animals are vulnerable to almost everything. Whether they are looking for shelter or food, they must face the busy world around them, writes ilovemydogsomuch
A dog trying to find leftover food was tragically hit by a motorcycle driving at high speed. His injuries were so serious that no one was sure he would survive. But fortunately, he was not left to himself to perish.
When a person finally worried enough to ask for help, the rescuers arrived immediately. They loaded their animal rescue ambulance and headed towards the dog. The puppy, later named Black Bangpakong (we will call him Black for short), was so seriously injured that he could not even sit alone.
The shock of the accident, the pure strength of it, affected his face the most. He was lying there, desperately in need of medical care.
These unique animal rescuers, who, like the first responders for humans, did not hesitate. With their fully stocked ambulance, they used all the necessary supplies to treat Black on the road.
They bandaged him, gave him fluids and analgesics, then lifted him and put him on a stretcher. He was then placed inside the ambulance to be taken to the veterinary clinic.
Even if Black was in poor condition, his body was starting to relax. Analgesics took effect and he began to trust his new human friends.
The rescuers drove as fast as they could to the veterinary clinic and Black was immediately brought inside. The veterinarian came and did a thorough examination.
He began to recover a little now that he was suffering less. He was exhausted but finally able to sit down.
His face had to be bandaged more widely to ensure that the bleeding would stop.
The veterinarian was certain that one of Black’s eyes could not be saved. He would need surgery the next morning once he was stable. Black was placed in a comfortable kennel and monitored 24 hours a day. It was imperative that he have a good night’s sleep.
The brave dog behaved very well during the operation. The veterinarian managed to remove his right eye. Dogs are quite resistant and with a little time, and a lot of love and patience, Black would adapt very well.
He could still see but above all, his life was spared! In a few days, Black was good enough to be kept on a leash to get some fresh air. He was hesitant to go out. He remembered that the scary world was not always kind to him.
Black looked out the doors of the veterinary clinic. He was not sure that he could one day trust leaving the veterinary clinic again. One of the veterinary technicians tried to assure him that everything would be fine.
But Black didn’t really trust what was beyond the glass doors. She spoke as calmly as possible and told him that she would not leave him. She took him closer to the sidewalk.
The dog sniffed his environment. He tried, with his unique eye, to see the world in front of him. He wondered: would the outside world be as cruel as before? As the brave dog found his courage and his new human friend rooted him, something changed in him. His valiant big heart knew not how not to give up!
