Tom Hanks and Robin Wright reunite with director Robert Zemeckis in ‘Here,’ 30 years after ‘Forrest Gump’

Tom Hanks and Robin Wright are picking up where they left off.

PEOPLE has an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Here, which reunites costars Hanks, 68, and Wright, 58, with director Robert Zemeckis 30 years after they made 1994’s Forrest Gump together.

“We all know each other so well,” Hanks says in the video, while Wright adds, “Working with people you know and you’re compatible with, there’s nothing like that.”

“We could put our heads together and know exactly what we wanted to try different,” Hanks says of working with Wright and Zemeckis on set. Wright also says Here is “one of the best working experiences of my career.”

Hanks played the title character in the 1994 historical drama, which won six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor. Wright portrayed Jenny, Forrest’s childhood friend whom he marries by the end of the movie.

“I’ve been looking to do a movie with Tom and Robin since the three of us did Forrest Gump,” Zemeckis, 72, says in the clip.

The director has collaborated individually with both Hanks and Wright in the three decades since Forrest Gump‘s release, but the group reunited to make Here, which tells the story of one couple at various stages of their life together. The film is based on the graphic novel by Richard McGuire.

According to a synopsis, Here is about “multiple families and a special place they inhabit. The story travels through generations, capturing the most relatable of human experiences.”

The film, which also stars Paul Bettany, Kelly Reilly and Michelle Dockery, is a “tale of love, loss, laughter and life, all of which happen right Here,” the description adds.
