Celebrities have always been intertwined with politics.

Whether it’s endorsing a candidate on social media or performing at a rally, many celebrities use their platform to spread political messages. Some celebrities take it a step further and actually run for office itself.

Before Donald Trump was president he was known for his money, books, and The Apprentice. Ronald Reagan was a renowned actor before serving as the 40th president from 1981 to 1989 and Arnold Schwarzenegger served as governor of California.

While many celebrities run for office, there are some who don’t that fans would love to see in a political position. On Reddit, a user created a thread asking: “Which celebrities do you think would actually make decent candidates for Senate, Governor, or even President?”

The answers varied wildly, but a few standouts were mentioned. One actor who was mentioned repeatedly was George Clooney, as someone said the Ocean’s Eleven actor “impresses” them with his charity work.

“He does some really good humanitarian work around the world and seems like a genuinely affable and compassionate human being,” one user commented. Another added: “George Clooney. He built a very successful non-profit that protects human rights.”

Morgan Freeman was also mentioned, specifically for his aura and voice. “I mean the man has played God, The President, and countless other roles,” someone wrote, “Plus he’s just so damn likeable and his smooth voice would make diplomacy easier. He’s also smart enough to surround himself with extremely talented people.”

And though she’s currently wrapping up her Eras Tour, Taylor Swift was also mentioned as a possibility because she’s a “household name across the world.” However, one echoing thought in the Reddit thread was that no celebrity should be president.

“Absolutely nobody,” one person proclaimed, “The fact that America loves voting celebrities into office, who live in a completely different world than your average citizen and have no experience in governance, is absolutely mind boggling to me.”

They continued: “You should get your candidates from useful positions, like teachers, civil servants and managers from large non-profit organizations.”
